BEIJING, October 14 (TMTPOST) — ZF Group, the global technology company, signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Tuesday with Chinese electric-vehicle maker NIO to work together boosting the development of steer-by-wire (SBW) products and other fields.
The two parties have also agreed to establish an instant information sharing mechanism to facilitate communication and conduct regular technical exchanges to jointly engage in setting industry-leading processes and quality standards.
Their collaboration will also be extended to brand promotion, product marketing, technology and quality enhancements, as well as customer service.
According to Dr. Holger Klein, Member of the Board of Management, ZF Group, ZF"s new steer-by-wire system is a market-leading, cutting-edge technology. They are excited to be working closely with NIO, an outstanding representative of the Chinese automotive industry that is actively engaged in technology and business model innovation, and a pioneer in the globalization of the Chinese automotive industry.
ZF Group will continue to expand their cooperation with leading automotive customers against the backdrop of the connectivity, electrification and autonomous megatrends, and give full play to ZF"s technology strengths to play an increasingly important role in the open automotive ecosystem.
The signing of this agreement marks the first time that ZF Group cooperates with an OEM in the SBW business in the Asia Pacific region. It also means that the two sides will jointly promote the evolution and development of technology in many fields such as autonomous driving and electrification.
Founded in 1915, ZF Group is a global technology company supplying systems for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and industrial technology. After the successful integration of WABCO, ZF is a competent systems supplier for commercial vehicle technology worldwide thanks to its new Commercial Vehicle Solutions Division, which started operating in early 2022.
NIO, founded in November 2014, is a Chinese pioneer building electric smart cars and a leader in the premium smart electric vehicle market.
